I bring with me a life full of rich experiences and achievements to my business.
I was born physically challenged with one arm and my palm consisting of three digits. I also have a condition called scoliosis curvature of the spine. My disability does not define me.
As a young student at college I faced many challenges I was told that I could not play some sports or take typing as a school cert subject among other challenges. I was not asked whether I wanted to try I was told a straight no you can not participate. My Dad was a huge support and always encouraged me to try things out for myself first and by trying I would be able to decide if this was something I enjoyed and wanted to pursue further.
Dad supported my desires and wishes to feel included and play netball and basketball along with taking typing as one of my subjects at school. Dad spoke with the headmaster and teachers and I went on to play third form netball and basketball. In my fourth form year I coached the 3rd form basketball team and continued to play for my college. Today I hold my Pitman’s word processing certificate typing 46 words per minute with two fingers.
How can you possible know what you are capable of if you never try?
At the age of 19 my friend Rob Loader of Rob Loader Motors encouraged me to take driving lessons which I did with Rob and a driving school for disabled people based in South Auckland. By the time I was 20 I had my first car and was driving confidently. I always thought as a young teenager I would be a bus girl not an independent owner driver yeah ha how wonderful.
My next big scary challenge was my unexpected unplanned pregnancy at 29 years of age. I was told that I would not be able to carry full term and should not consider having biological children of my own. When it was confirmed that I was pregnant I was thrilled and disappointed all in one. I was very aware of what I had been told by the medical professionals. But I had this over whelming feeling that God doesn’t give you things you can’t cope with.
I made the final decision that I would carry this child and whatever transpired was they way God intended. I had to control my thoughts and emotions what a rollercoaster ride. I was told at three months that it was likely that I would miscarry but I got to 5 months with no problems. At 5 months my daughter started to crown down and I started having some contractions. I was living in Kaitaia at the time so I was referred to National Women’s in Greenlane Auckland on bed rest we made it to 30 and a half weeks gestation.
My partner and I had been told several times during the pregnancy after many scans that our daughter would not have any fingers or toes and that only wee little buds had formed as toes and fingers. The day before she was born we were shown around the premature birth unit to see little wee ones that weighed less than 2 pounds and were told this is what we should expect.
Our daughter Creation was born by natural delivery something we thought I would not be able to achieve. Creation Ataahua Taylor weighed in at 5 pound 7 ounces with 10 fingers and 10 toes a pure beautiful creation from God. I am so pleased I faced all the challenges and have a child of my own biologically.
My desire was to breast feed our daughter, this felt like a very big challenge when I would sit and think this through. To my surprise I was given 9 bottle sets as gifts. I remember saying to my mother what’s up with these 9 bottle sets. My breasts are not disabled they are my best asset HeHeHe. After 19 days of persisting and of course tears and nearly wanting to give up our daughter had the strength to latch on and was able to suckle my breast. Creation went on to be breast feed for two years. I have three children, in total my niece I had in my care at 21 and adopted who was 7 at the time and my step son whom I have been in his life since he was 6.
Life’s battles don't always go
to the stronger or faster person
but sooner or later the person who wins is the person who thinks they can?
Having overcome many of my own challenges I offer myself and my service as a life coach and professional speaker to those truly seeking change and happiness in all aspects of life. My focus is on supporting others to achieve their dreams by drawing upon their inner strengths abilities and achievements.
Following a lifetime dream to empower others I have sought my Advanced Diploma in Life Coaching from Life Coach Associates Auckland. I receive ongoing supervision to continue improving my skills and personal growth. I am very aware that I am only able to assist my clients as far as I have grown myself.
Positive thinking without action matching thinking will always be a state of mind not reality.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?”
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You're playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us; it is not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. When we let our own light shine; we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
